In late 2022, David and Maria crossed paths on Twitter; yes, the social media platform. The person who initiated contact is unknown, but what is known and admitted by David is that after their first interaction on Twitter, he Googled Maria and found videos of her news clips from Montana and was stunned by her beauty, smile, and natural sweetness. David was in no place to initiate a conversation with Maria, especially since he lived in Seattle and she lived in Montana; so they remained Twitter friends and continued to “like” nearly every tweet the other posted just to put a smile on each other’s face 475 miles apart.

Unbeknownst to David, Maria was planning a move back to Washington.

In January 2023, David initiated communication with Maria through a Direct Message (DM) after she didn't tweet about the Kraken game that night; the next day she told him she works in Seattle now as a Producer for Q13. David watched her first show, sent her a picture of her show on his TV, and stopped talking to Maria that morning.

Why, you ask?

David wasn’t ready or willing to meet the most beautiful woman he’s ever seen that also had the most natural level of kindness and sweetness he’s ever felt from a person without meeting them. The reality of her being in Seattle was too much for him, so he checked out.

A month later…

Maria reached out to David after going to a Kraken game with her brother for a birthday celebration; which, David posted a picture on Twitter of him being at too.

From that moment on, David and Maria communicated nearly every day; on Twitter of course. David then realized what beautiful person Maria is and figured he’d be crazy not to meet her, so he asked her to join him at a Mariners game in a month.

Yep, a month.

A week later, David realized what a stupid move that was and asked her out to the Kraken game that night; Maria couldn’t join David because she was going to the Kraken game with a friend that night already, so they agreed to go to the next game together.

The night David initially proposed meeting with Maria, he went to the Kraken game with a friend, and between periods, David and his friend got in line for a drink in the Space Needle Lounge at Climate Pledge Arena and a woman who looked exactly like Maria’s profile picture was in line directly in front of David and his friend. David looked at his friend and said “Hey, I think I’m going out with her and in a couple days.” He goes “What?!” David goes “Yep, let’s get out of here.” and they go to a different place to get drinks.

After the game, Maria reached out to David informing him she saw him and invited him to join her and her friend. David admitted it was him that she saw and agreed to meet her for the first time with her friend.

On March 9th, 2023 David and Maria officially met for the first time; and two days later, they went out for the first time together.

The moment Maria walked into the Chihuly Bar in the shadow of the Space Needle and locked eyes for the first time, she smiled at David, and David knew he was in trouble.

He knew.

He actually knew the whole time before meeting Maria in person, he just didn't want to face it.

They enjoyed the night; they went to Traveling Goat for dinner, then Kraken game shortly after. Maria dropped David off at home before going home herself.

They've been inseparable since that night in March 2023. That year they traveled Western Washington together, the State of Washington together, and traveled the country together. They met each other's families, they met each other's friends, and made joint friends.

In 2024; they traveled internationally, they moved in together; and they realized there's only one more thing they need to do together.

On August 1st, 2024; David proposed to Maria next to a river deep down a gravel road in Leavenworth, WA.

On May 17th, 2025; we're getting married.

Our wedding rings tell our story; they have the Twitter X, jewels with the Mariners and Kraken colors, and the Chihuly glass art flowing into the river David proposed next to.
